Jackson DCI Office Closing

DCI

The state of Wyoming has announced plans to close its Division of Criminal Investigation field office in Jackson effective April 30th.  DCI Deputy Director of Operations Kevin Haller says the decision was actually made in February to close the office based on budget reductions being made in the department, and the significant cost of office space and services here.  Altogether, Haller says the department stands to save over $200-thousand per biennium through the move.  However, in spite of the move, Haller says services to the county will not decline.  He explains that the one person based in the Jackson office has always been supported in her activities by a team made up of employees in offices in Sweetwater, Unita, Lincoln and Sublette Counties.  The closure of the Jackson office now means the closest DCI offices will be in Afton and Pinedale.  Meanwhile, he says should a significant investigation be launched in the Jackson area, the Jackson Police Department has offered space from which to base activities.  Haller says the Jackson field office is the only office in the state that is being eliminated.
