Pole Pedal Paddle This Weekend

PPP

This is the weekend hundreds of area residents dress up in crazy costumes and participate in the 38th annual rite of spring called The Pole Pedal Paddle. It’s a tradition in Jackson Hole, held on the 2nd to last Saturday of skiing at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The four-event race, where contestants compete either individually or in teams, consists of an alpine ski leg, a cross-country ski leg, a bicycle leg, and a boating leg.  When it was established in 1975, Pole Pedal Paddle founder Harry Baxter considered the PPP to be just a playful end to a winter at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. The Pole Pedal Paddle is now a major fundraising event for the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club which seeks to provide affordable Alpine, Freeride, Nordic and Snowboard programs to Jackson youth. The event begins from the slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at 7:00 am and concludes with a whitewater leg in the Snake River Canyon in the early afternoon.

Ruffed grouse hunters in the parts of the country where the birds are hunted heavily might flush 60 birds in one day, see six, get shots at four and come home with two. They consider that an average day. The birds are not easy to see, even when you know where they are. If you […]
