Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks continue to be among the top ten national park destinations in the country. According to year-end statistics, more than 3.4-million people visited Yellowstone in 2012 while 2.7-million visited Grand Teton National Park. That places the parks in fourth and eighth place respectively as the most sought-after parks in the nation. What’s more, Yellowstone Spokesman Al Nash points out that it is not unusual for Yellowstone to rank so high in visitation. Most recently, the National Park Service Public Use Statistics Office reports an 8% decline in recreational visits to Yellowstone during March, but a 3.2% increase in visitation year-to-date.
