Bear 610 and Family Emerges With Family

610 & Family

Both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks have cautioned visitors that bears have emerged from hibernation now, and are eagerly looking for food after their long winter’s naps.  Park officials say Grizzly 610 and her family were spotted near Cattleman’s Bridge on Monday, but Spokesperson Jackie Skaggs saysthe whereabouts of 399 is still unknown. She says biologists lost track of 399 late last year and are wondering if she might show up with newborns this year. Skaggs says it is also still unknown if the young bear that was struck and killed on the highway in the park late last year was one of the five that was looked after by 399 or 610.

  • A lunar eclipse, and me without my camera - April 18, 2014
Monday night, or more accurately early Tuesday morning, there was a total lunar eclipse. And being the experienced nature photographer I am, you’d think I was ready with my camera. But you’d be wrong. The last total lunar eclipse visible in Wyoming was way back in 2009, if I’m not mistaken. So I’ve been looking […]
