Air Service Here May Expand Again

United_Jackson

Representatives of United Airlines told officers of Jackson Hole Air that they were very pleased with the success they saw this past winter in Jackson Hole, and are willing to explore expanding the service to other markets that would make sense to continuing that success.  Mark Barron, who serves as the vice chairman of Jackson Hole Air says he and Executive Director Carrie Cooper visited with the airline about some specific markets that might be attractive. Among those, he says are Washington-Dulles and Houston which he says they have asked the airline to consider for the next winter season.  He points out that Houston provides an important hub for travel from Latin American countries into America. Likewise, Barron says Washington-Dulles is an excellent hub to and from Europe.  This past winter, Barron says the various airlines provided non-stop service to nine major markets out of Jackson with United making a majority of those connections. He says it is amazing that a community with a population of about 21-thousand provides jet service to Atlanta, Newark, Minneapolis, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver , and Salt Lake.  Plus, Barron says there is a flight from LaGuardia that stops in Denver before continuing on to Jackson. Barron says representatives of Jackson Hole Air will be visiting with representatives of the three other major airlines providing seasonal service to Jackson Hole in the near future.

  • Get off the beaten path on holidays - September 2, 2014
The SuperWife and I took the kids fishing on Labor Day. Usually, going fishing on a holiday is a bad idea. There tend to be crowds just about everywhere you go. But even on a national day off, you can avoid having to share space with other anglers if you get well off the beaten […]
  • Don’t let snakes ruin your Labor Day - September 1, 2014
In my opinion, everybody should go hunting each weekend of the hunting season. You don’t have to go after elk or deer every time. Change it up a little. Hunt doves on the first weekend, then try to get a blue grouse or two the next. Later in the fall, you can start working duck […]
  • The Grizzlies Won’t Be a Pushover [AUDIO] - August 29, 2014
The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]
