Local Angler Speaks About Endangered River

American Rivers

The Colorado River is “number one” on the 2013 list of “America’s Most Endangered Rivers,” from the group American Rivers. And its connections to Wyoming, primarily the Green River, are noted in the report. The listing doesn’t mean the Colorado is a lost cause. Instead, it means decisions could be made soon that affect the river system’s health – and it’s no secret that the Colorado River is often short on water. Rhett Bain owns Reel Deal Anglers in Jackson Hole, and has worked for years to draw attention to concerns about plans to take water away from the Colorado River system.  Bain says, “There was a proposal for a pipeline for the water flowing south from the Green River into the Colorado – funnel it out and put it on the Front Range of Denver.”  Other rivers on the list are in Texas, Georgia, Oregon and Montana.

I don’t understand why it’s happening now, when the temperatures are dropping well below zero, but my golden retriever’s blowing her coat. In a big way. And it’s not just her. Our collie’s doing the same thing, and to a much bigger degree. At least the golden has some abilities that allow me to overlook […]
