Host Families Sought For Exchange Student

Rotary-International-exchange

The Jackson Lunchtime Rotary Club is looking for families who might be willing to host a foreign exchange student for a period of time in the upcoming school year.  Rotarian John Morgan says it is important for them to line up the first of those host families soon in order to process the visa for next year’s student from Thailand.  That deadline, he says is May first. Morgan says when an exchange student comes into the country, they are very prepared and have a substantial command of the English language.  He adds that they bring with them a real hunger to learn about our culture and community, as well as a willingness to share something of their own culture.  Morgan says there seems to be something “magnetic” about someone who has traveled to America to learn as much as they can about our culture; but also be interested in sharing information about their own culture.  Morgan urges families willing to host a foreign exchange student to contact Jason Schneider at 413-5123 for additional information about the program.
