As the staff in Grand Teton National Park resume regular operations in the park, Park Superintendent David Vela is extending a thank-you to park partners for their assistance during the shutdown. In particular, he notes the Grand Teton National Park Foundation supported grooming on the Teton Park Road and supplied portable toilets at Taggart Lake Trailhead, and the Grand Teton Association provided general support of park employees. This week, road crews have cleared snow from the north end of the Moose-Wilson Road between Murie Ranch Road junction and Death Canyon Road junction. This section of road was closed during the government shutdown. Motor vehicles may now use Moose-Wilson Road to the normal seasonal closure at Death Canyon Road. Ranger-led snowshoe hikes will resume on Tuesday, February 5th. The two-hour guided walks start at the Taggart Lake Trailhead at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday each week. Additionally, hiring operations for seasonal positions at Grand Teton National Park has resumed in earnest.
