South Entrance Opens

S. Entrance

The South Entrance to Yellowstone National Park opens for the season today as originally scheduled, thanks to funds to pay for the plowing being raised by Jackson area tourism interests. As of 8:00 am, visitors will be able to travel through the South Entrance to Grant Village, West Thumb Junction and on to Fishing Bridge or across Craig Pass to Old Faithful.  Wyoming Governor Matt Mead will be in Yellowstone to sign the National Travel and Tourism Proclamation while paying tribute to the collaborative snowplowing efforts in ensuring Yellowstone National Park opened as scheduled. Inside the park, officials say the road between Canyon and Tower-Roosevelt over Dunraven Pass won’t open to travel until May 24 which is still in time for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  Due to construction, there will be daytime delays of up to 30 minutes and nightly closures on the section of road between Tower-Roosevelt Junction and Chittenden Road beginning May 28. All other interior park roads are open for the season.

But you’d be wrong. The last total lunar eclipse visible in Wyoming was way back in 2009, if I’m not mistaken. So I’ve been looking […]

  • Back to normal at the trap range - April 17, 2014
By some strange luck, I shot really well last week in our trap league. But last night, I didn’t do so well. Not even close. The thing about shooting trap is that you’re bound to have good rounds once in a while. Those good nights give you hope that you’re improving. For some people, that […]
