The Jackson/Teton County Parks and Recreation Department has announced that the Powderhorn ice rink will be closed for the remainder of the season, with the early closure due to the recent snow and forecast for snow through the end of the week. Parks and Rec will evaluate the Fairgrounds and Owen Bircher daily through the week and will attempt to clear the Fairgrounds when resources allow. Should Parks and Rec be able to clear it this week, the Fairgrounds rink will be closed for the season beginning Monday in order to be able to break it down prior to Hill Climb starting the week of March 18. Park and Rec officials explain that it takes a couple of weeks to “melt out” the boards, tear it down, and clean up the area. Owen Bircher rink will be cleared after the current storm cycle, but it will close for the season by March 15 regardless of weather
