Alliance Weighs In On River Plan

Alliance

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has proposed to ban motorized watercraft on sections of the Snake River. The proposal would prohibit personal conveyances such as jet skis from Moose to West Table, and all other motorized watercraft from Moose to the South Park Bridge.  The Jackson Hole Alliance has issued a statement favoring the ban, saying it is important to preserve the wild nature and character the waterway. Alliance Program Coordinator Annika Sohlstrom says if motorized use were to increase on the Snake River, there would be many negative environmental consequences such as habitat alteration to trout, raptors, and ungulates.  Furthermore, Sohlstrom says the Alliance would like to see the regulation extended clear to Palisades Reservoir.  The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking comments on the proposal through June 7th.
