This weekend, we get to reset our clocks again as the U.S. returns to daylight savings time. Under provisions of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the federal government declared that the Uniform Time Act set the start and end dates of daylight savings time to begin the 2nd Sunday in March, end on the 1st Sunday in November. It’s part of a phased move designed to conserve electricity which theoretically conserves 300,000 barrels of oil a year. In the process, however, we will have an hour less to sleep on Sunday morning. So set those clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday night and be ready to use your headlights just a little longer when you go to work Monday morning.
