“Get Along Little Dogies”

cattle drive

The vanishing American cattle drive will once again be seen on the northern end of Jackson Hole this Saturday.  Grand Teton National Park is alerting drivers on US Highway 26/89/191 through Moran Junction may encounter some delays between 6:45 and 8:30 am due to bovine blockage.  Park rangers will be on hand to provide traffic control as cowboys on horseback drive about 290 “little dogies” east from the summer pastures at the Elk Ranch to the Pinto Ranch in Buffalo Valley.  It’s a scene that would have made John Wayne proud — but those who would rather miss the delays may wish to seek an alternate route via the Teton Park Road, or plan to pass through Moran Junction either before or after the scheduled relocation of those sirloins on the hoof.
