Rotary Club Raises Money for Water Project

The Jackson Hole Rotary Lunch Club has announced the group recently received a $10,000 gift toward the development of a clean water system at the Center for the Secret of Peace in Rusizi, Rwanda. The three Rotary Clubs of Jackson in partnership with Rotary Club in Butare, Rwanda, have embraced this international service project out of admiration for what the group terms a “profoundly important undertaking by the Rwandan people.”  After the horror of the 1994 inter-tribal genocide in which over one million Rwandans were killed, Rwandans are now building unified and forgiving society.  Though still in early development, the Center is already bringing great hope and healing to Rwandan people, and to visitors and supporters from other countries, including many people from Jackson Hole.  Along with this gift, club officials say $52,827 has been raised locally toward the $87,089 goal for phase I, leaving a little more than $ 34,000 still to go.

In my opinion, everybody should go hunting each weekend of the hunting season. You don’t have to go after elk or deer every time. Change it up a little. Hunt doves on the first weekend, then try to get a blue grouse or two the next. Later in the fall, you can start working duck […]

The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]
  • GPS will sometimes lead you to astray - August 29, 2014
At the risk of sounding like I’ve been watching too much Top Gear, I need to go off on a bit of a rant right now. The good folks at Nissan let me drive a Titan for two full months, which was really nice of them. And it’s done a pretty good job of filling […]
