The Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Joint Powers Board selected 36 special events from a list of 45 applicants during its regular meeting Wednesday.  Board Chair Pontier Sackrey says to make the guidelines for selection clearer, specific categories for sponsorship opportunities were outlined. Those included Community Character Program, Conferences and Group Visits Program, Youth Association Sports Events Program and, Major Events, Festivals and Coordinated Events program. Among the approved events were Jackson Hole On Ice, Winter Wonderland, National Ski Federation Annual Summit, the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, The Jackson Hole Shriners’ Cutter Races and Ski Joring, the Moose Chase and Winter Fest. Sackrey says the special events are selected to help boost the shoulder season from late September through mid-June. The Jackson Hole Travel & Tourism Joint Powers Board is a volunteer board appointed by the Jackson Town Council and Teton County Board of Commissioners to oversee the use of the tourism promotion funds appropriated by the lodging tax.
