It was a bit like a scene out of the old west just east of downtown Jackson. Shortly before 3:30 pmTuesday, the stagecoach that takes tourist on rides around town from the square became a runaway, charging south on Willow with no driver. Jackson Police Lieutenant Cole Nethercott says the operators of the coach were in the process of changing out the team just south of Jackson Elementary School when something apparently spooked the horses and they took off. There were no occupants on the coach at the time. Nethercott says the horses ran with the coach about three blocks before the coach struck two parked cars, slightly damaging the cars and the coach. Nethercott says no pedestrians were hurt and the horses were only slightly injured in the mishap. There was no immediate information about specifically what startled the horses.
