Teton Interagency Fire Personnel doused two fire starts Wednesday afternoon. One shortly after 4:00 pm involved a single tree in the Colter Bay Campground. The park report indicates that the fire was human-caused. Park officials say the incident was not the result of an escaped fire but may have stemmed from an equipment malfunction. The second fire was reported about an hour later in the Star Lake area east of Boulder and also involved less than a tenth of an acre. The Teton Interagency helicopter responded and firefighters suppressed that fire as well. Forest officials say that fire was the result of a latent lightning strike. Currently, fire danger in the region is rated as moderate.
