A bear researcher collecting habitat data in the Island Park area was attacked and bitten by a grizzly bear yesterday. Brett Panting of the Wildlife Conservation Society was in the Davis Lake area of Big Bend Ridge when the bear attacked. The bear ran off after biting Panting, and other volunteers transported the researcher to Eastern Idaho Medical Center for treatment.
