Jackson Hole Airport has been uncommonly busy in recent weeks – complicated by construction of a new baggage claim area in the terminal building. As such, it is becoming increasingly difficult for passengers to return rental cars, pick up their tickets and be processed through security in time to meet flights. Airport manager Ray Bishop recommends that all passengers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to departure. Bishop says it is particularly true in the morning bank of flights that you need to be at the airport two hours early – and the noon-hour is very busy as well. Says Bishop: “We’ve got nine overnights on Saturday night so a good day for us on Sunday mornings is about 45 minute wait-time to get through security.” Bishop says on Saturday and Sunday mornings there are estimated to be about 15-hundred people who leave the airport in a period of about an hour and a half. He points to nine jetliners that spend Saturday night on the tarmac and depart Sunday morning for a variety of destinations.
