The Wyoming Highway Patrol will be stepping up enforcement efforts with more Troopers working overtime during the long Labor Day holiday weekend.  Lieutenant Tom Kelly of the Wyoming Highway Patrol’s Jackson office says the holiday will be extended by many to include Friday through Monday and troopers will be watching in particular for impaired drivers.  Lieutenant Kelly says, “This year we’re also participating in the national Labor Day Holiday campaign in conjunction with other states and the highway safety department from WYDOT essentially focusing on impaired drivers and occupant restraint enforcement and things like that as well.” In addition to enforcement, Kelly says officers are on the road to assist those motorists who find themselves in need of other kinds of assistance.  Meanwhile, Kelly says Wyoming’s fatality count is down 28 ¾% compared with this same time last year and would really like to keep that count declining through the last holiday weekend of the summer season.
