As the summer travel season saw its official end with the Labor Day holiday yesterday, the Wyoming Travel and Tourism Department is optimistic that the summer of 2013 will prove to have been a solid year for the industry.  Wyoming Office of Tourism Director Diane Shober says the preliminary numbers for the season have been very positive.  Shober says the inquiries coming in and response to the marketing campaign are up – in some cases double digit – and compared to where the state was a year ago, visitation at the welcome centers statewide is up on the average of 11%.  Shober, however points to the next couple months as being increasingly important to tourism with an influx of older travelers and empty-nesters visiting the state through the fall.

A cold front and weather system will push through the state of Wyoming early today.  Scattered rain showers will be possible statewide across lower elevations, but the best chance will be in northern and southeastern Wyoming.  Rain showers could become heavy at times, especially in southeastern parts of the state in the afternoon and evening.  […]
  • Today’s a big day for hunters in Wyoming - October 1, 2014
If you’re really serious about hunting, you’re probably not listening to this. Depending on where you are in the state, the sun’s either up already or sunrise isn’t far away. If you’re a die-hard hunter, you’re probably already hunkered down in a field waiting for the geese to come in, out in the timber trying […]
  • Not all bad news in judge’s decision to relist wolves - September 30, 2014
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson handed down a ruling last week that removed wolves from Wyoming control and put them back under the protection of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. That ruling put an end to hunting wolves anywhere in the state, whether they’re in the trophy game area in the northwestern corner […]
