The Race Is Over, But Not The Donations

OB2013

Although an exact count of participants was not immediately available, organizers of Old Bills Fun Run for Charities say literally thousands poured onto the streets surrounding the Town Square for Old Bill’s Fun Run 2013 Saturday morning. With dogs on leashes and babies in strollers and carriers runners and walkers participated  in either a 10K or 5K course while 100 non-profit organizations had booths on and surrounding the town square to educate people about their causes.  Community Foundation Special Events and Marketing Officer Nicki McDermott says while donations are still being accepted through Friday, to date, nearly $5.5-million has been raised so far by local organizations to be matched by $2,450,000 contributed by Mr. and Mrs. Old Bill and 48 Co-Challengers. How much was actually raised through the event won’t be known until the annual awards party October 21st.  Should the bottom line meet or exceed $9-million this year, it will bring the total dollars raised by the Fun Run to $100-million over its 17-year existence.
