Forest users of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest near the Palisades and Teton Basin Ranger Districts can expect to see fire activity through the forest area this fall as fire crews will be burning debris piles in multiple locations throughout each district.  Forest Spokesman Lynn Ballard says piles have been built to clean up limbs and brush in campgrounds and other recreation and wood gathering sites.  He says weather permitting, burning could start as early as next week and extend into late October/early November. Smoke will be evident on the day of the burns and may persist for several days, especially in mountain valleys during evening and early morning hours.

I shot at a lot of clay pigeons when I was a kid, but I never did it at an organized trap or skeet club. And I’ve shot at a lot of birds, both upland and waterfowl. I may not have been born with a shotgun in my hand, but I picked one up not […]
  • Change gears on the outdoor activities - July 17, 2014
Next week’s the last full week in July, and if you live anywhere near Cheyenne, that means Cheyenne Frontier Days. It actually starts tomorrow. I kind of got into the habit of absorbing everything Frontier Days has to offer when I was working at the newspaper, and I can’t seem to get it out of […]
