Jackson Hole High School was not the only school in Wyoming to be named among the nation’s prestigious Blue Ribbon Schools. Lovell High School and Henry Coffeen Elementary School in Sheridan were also named to the honor, as were Sugar Salem High School in Sugar City, Idaho and Gate City Elementary School in Pocatello. Dr. David Holbrook who is the federal programs division administrator for the Wyoming’s Education Department explains that the schools are honored for their high performances. Dr. Holbrook says in order to be a Blue Ribbon School in the categories named this year, schools had to be exemplary high performance schools; meaning they had to have some of the top scores and be ranked as one of the top schools on the statewide assessments. The national award went to only 236 public and 50 private schools from around the country.
