Events connected with the new fall festival in Jackson Hole called SHIFT are being opened up to furloughed federal employees, gratis. Beginning Friday, the 2013 SHIFT festival focuses on nature, culture, adventure and their relationships to conservation. Food, music and film accompanies this introductory weekend. SHIFT Director Christian Beckwith says because of the weekend’s theme, organizers are cognizant of the contributions made by the federal employees here to the viability of the community in which we live. Says Beckwith: “During this difficult time, we want to make sure our federal workers have complimentary access to a fabulous event and know that they are valued.” The inaugural weekend begins Friday evening with an evening of food, drink and film – jointly presented by SHIFT and Slow Food in the Tetons. Furloughed federal workers may visit the Center for the Arts box office by Friday to collect their tickets. Free tickets will be awarded with the presentation of federal identification and furlough papers.
