A private plane enroute to Laramie Wyoming Saturday made an emergency landing on Highway 34 between Freedom, Wyoming and Soda Springs. Fortunately, the road was vacant at the time. According to a news release from the Caribou County Sheriff’s office, the Caribou County Sheriff’s Office responded to Hwy 34 near milepost 99 at about 12:45 pm where the airplane had landed on the roadway. Upon arrival Chief Deputy Matthew Galloway says officers discovered that the pilot, 41-year-old Kyle Miller of Marquette, Michigan, and a passenger where traveling from the Frank Church Wilderness to Laramie, Wyoming, when a mechanical issue caused the 1965 Cessna 182, to lose its load of fuel. Miller was able land the airplane on the empty stretch of highway without incident. Officer Galloway says the airplane was repaired and refueled on the roadside and Miller and his passenger were able to safely takeoff and continue their trip. Details of the incident have been forwarded to the FAA for a follow‐up investigation.
