They may not be stars as Hollywood would know them, but the eight couples who formed the “Dancing with the Stars” competition over the weekend are more than stars in the eyes of the Children’s Learning Center.  When the two nights of the event were over, Executive Director Patti Boyd says over $150,000 was raised after expenses to help pay for programs serving local children. Among those programs, Boyd says are funding for at-risk children, scholarships for head start students, funding for a special needs children including an “inclusion program” in the preschool, and assistance for working families needing help to provide daycare.  Boyd says the participants put in countless hours since April, rallying dollars which served as votes for the contestants.  Says Boyd: “We’re incredibly grateful.”
