Jackson Police Department will again be partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration and Smith’s Food and Drug this weekend to participate in a nationwide prescription drug “Take-Back” initiative. The objective is to collect expired, unused or unwanted prescription medicines in order to prevent pill abuse or theft. Police Lieutenant Cole Nethercott says officers will be at Smith’s Food and Drug from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm Saturday to collect the unwanted medicines. Those who are unable to participate in the program at that time may contact the police department to arrange for a time to drop off their medications there for disposal. Nethercott says the program is completely anonymous.
