It’s Official: BTNF Supervisor’s Office Stays In Jackson

BTNF Office

Bridger-Teton National Forest Friday received concurrence from the Regional Office that the Forest Supervisor’s Office and the Jackson Ranger District Office is to be renovated and new facilities constructed at the Jackson Administrative Site in downtown Jackson, rather than relocating it. Spokesperson Mary Cernicek says the final decision was made jointly by the Forest Supervisor Clint Kyhl and the Regional Forester Nora Rasure; both of whom are new in their positions. Cernicek says the Forest is currently waiting to close on 10-acres of the 15-acre downtown administrative site for sale in order to finance the design and construction of updated facilities.  Cernicek says, “The sale of the property is still in progress and after that, the Forest will be working on the design, the plans for the new facilities, and exactly what employees are going to be working and in which areas – and all the work that’s associated with a new office.” The renovation and construction on the remaining 5-acres in Jackson will include the construction of a combined Supervisor’s Office and District Office, a new 4-unit flexible housing unit for permanent and seasonal employees, renovation of the existing district office into seasonal housing, and a variety of fire and support facilities.

  • Estimating range on waterfowl is easy - October 22, 2014
If you’ve done any goose hunting, you’ve probably heard the term “skybusting.” You may know it means shooting at birds that are out of your shotgun’s effective range, but do you know if you’re guilty of it? You can set up your decoys to minimize the risk of shooting at birds when they’re too far […]
  • Don’t lose your vision in the woods - October 21, 2014
I don’t have good eyes. Had I been born a hundred years ago, there would have been no help for me. Glasses can’t help me, so I’d have blind. I have to wear a special kind of contact lens, which wasn’t available in the days of Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone. But through the miracle […]
  • Hunters must be conservationists first - October 20, 2014
As hunters, it’s our responsibility to take care of the critters we hunt, as well as those we don’t. We have to obey the game laws. Police ourselves to be sure others respect the wildlife. And even offer suggestions to the Game and Fish Commission when we think there are better ways to ensure that […]
