Six of the 12 wolf hunt areas are now closed for the remainder of 2013. Wolf hunt area four reached its harvestable quota of two wolves Sunday. Other wolf hunt areas already closed for the season include areas two, three, five, seven and ten. As with other trophy game species, wolves in these areas are managed under a mortality quota system.  Curently, Game and Fish Spokesman Al Langston says 17 of the 26 animals allotted for this year’s trophy game hunt have been killed.  The wolf hunting season ends December 31st in each hunt area unless the quota is reached in the area before the hunting season ends. Langston reminds that all hunters must call the wolf hotline daily) to ensure the quota for wolves in each specific area has not been reached.

I don’t have good eyes. Had I been born a hundred years ago, there would have been no help for me. Glasses can’t help me, so I’d have blind. I have to wear a special kind of contact lens, which wasn’t available in the days of Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone. But through the miracle […]
  • Hunters must be conservationists first - October 20, 2014
As hunters, it’s our responsibility to take care of the critters we hunt, as well as those we don’t. We have to obey the game laws. Police ourselves to be sure others respect the wildlife. And even offer suggestions to the Game and Fish Commission when we think there are better ways to ensure that […]
