Gunshots Damage Schoolbus

jacksonpolice

Jackson Police are seeking information regarding damage done to one of the Teton County School District’s busses by gunshots.  Sergeant Russ Ruschill says police received a report of possible gunshots in the vicinity of Gregory Lane about 1:00 am Monday, but found nobody involved in firing those shots.  However, he says officers were dispatched to the bus barn about 7:00 am to investigate damage to an unoccupied school bus from a bullet.  He says police were summoned to the bus barn to investigate a bus that had incurred damage to the engine compartment from a bullet.  Ruschill says, “Our investigation so far leads us to believe that the bus was not a target, and that it just happened to be a ‘backstop’ at the moment that stopped the bullet.” Ruschill says investigators are seeking information from the public.  That information may be called in either to the police department directly, or to CrimeStoppers at 733-5148 where tips may be left anonymously if the caller chooses.  Up to $5000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
