Jackson Town Council last week amended and passed new guidelines for organizations’ holiday displays on the town square seeking less restrictive limits for time and size for the displays than proposed by the town staff.  At the suggestion of Councilman Bob Lenz, the time limit was extended from ten to 14 days and both Jim Stafford and Don Frank sought to lift the size restriction, at least until next year.  Council also clarified that the display restrictions exempt the stage stop on the southwest corner of the square which is operated by the Jackson Hole Chamber of Commerce and used through the holiday season as the headquarters for Santa’s visit with the community’s youngsters.  As passed, the new guidelines permit the displays on the eastern side of the square, preserving the western side for an ice rink, and limit the displays to be in place for 14 days.  Under those new guidelines, council approved the display of a menorah for two weeks beginning Wednesday.

The SuperWife and I took the kids fishing on Labor Day. Usually, going fishing on a holiday is a bad idea. There tend to be crowds just about everywhere you go. But even on a national day off, you can avoid having to share space with other anglers if you get well off the beaten […]

The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]
