It’s Cold! Keep Pets Safe

cold_dog

The National Weather Service is warning of falling temperatures in Jackson Hole with single digit daytime temperatures today through Friday and bitter wind chills of well below zero.  Shawn Liebl, Senior National Weather Service Cheyenne Office Meteorologist says while you keep yourself warm, don’t forget your pets.  He says try to keep your pets indoors if you can or bring them in and warm them up once in a while. Meanwhile, the Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital urges pet-owners to be on the lookout for pets seeking warmth in dangerous places like under warm vehicles or even inside the engine compartments; limit the time the pet is outdoors, and when walking the dog in this weather, remember that their feet are unprotected from the cold so keep the walks short — and examine their paws before and after each time you go out for a walk to ensure they aren’t injured.
