Recycle Center Accepting Plastic Wrap

RRR

The Teton County Integrated and Solid Waste and Recycling Center has decided to “put the wraps on” a greater variety of plastic grocery bags and plastic wrap that find their way into landfills.  Such commodities are obviously not biodegradable.  Solid Waste and Recycling Outreach Coordinator Mac Dukart explains that those plastic bags and wraps that are acceptable can be identified by their flexibility – if it stretches when you poke your finger into it instead of ripping, it can be recycled.  Dukart says residents may place clean, dry, empty plastic bags, plastic film or plastic wrap into the containers marked “plastic grocery bags.”  He says the materials are eventually recycled into many different products including composite lumber, small pellets to feed to livestock for roughage, plastic pipes, or even new bags.
