Vail Avalanche Victim Had Jackson Hole Ties

The most recent avalanche victim who died Tuesday while skiing out-of-bounds near Vail , Colorado had ties to Jackson Hole.  24 year-old Tony Siebert, grandson of Vail Founder Peter Siebert, was a former Jackson Hole Ski and Snowboard Club coach.  Siebert had been skiing a popular area called East Vail Chutes with three others when the avalanche caught the group.  Siebert’s companions escaped with relatively minor injuries.  Siebert had also recently participated in the making of a documentary entitled “Climb to Glory” which was meant as a tribute to the 10th Mountain Division.  He had coached for the Jackson Hole club in 2011 and 2012.
