Another Delay For Hoback Bridge

January 13, 2014 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming, Teton County No Comments
Hoback Bridge

It probably will come as no surprise to anyone who has driven through Hoback Junction over the past month that the new bridge over the Snake River is not ready for traffic yet.  Wyoming Department of Transportation Spokesperson Stephanie Harsha says inclement weather including snow and frigid temperatures have put the contractor behind schedule.  Harsha says the newest estimate for the opening of the bridge is as early as January 24th or as late as the following week.  The new bridge was originally scheduled for completion in October of 2012, but it has been plagued with contractual disagreements and flawed construction prior to the latest headaches brought about by the weather.  Once the new bridge is opened, work will begin on the demolition of the old one which was built in 1950.

The rabbit populations in the state are going crazy. I have a degree in zoology, so I feel I’m qualified to estimate the number of cottontails hopping around Wyoming. A cold front and weather system will push through the state of Wyoming early today.  Scattered rain showers will be possible statewide across lower elevations, but the best chance will be in northern and southeastern Wyoming.  Rain showers could become heavy at times, especially in southeastern parts of the state in the afternoon and evening.  […]
  • Today’s a big day for hunters in Wyoming - October 1, 2014
If you’re really serious about hunting, you’re probably not listening to this. Depending on where you are in the state, the sun’s either up already or sunrise isn’t far away. If you’re a die-hard hunter, you’re probably already hunkered down in a field waiting for the geese to come in, out in the timber trying […]
  • Not all bad news in judge’s decision to relist wolves - September 30, 2014
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson handed down a ruling last week that removed wolves from Wyoming control and put them back under the protection of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. That ruling put an end to hunting wolves anywhere in the state, whether they’re in the trophy game area in the northwestern corner […]
