Snowmaking Repaired At Snow King

January 15, 2014 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming, Town of Jackson No Comments
snow making

It may not be permanent, but it should make it through the season.  The snowmaking system for the Cougar area of Snow King Mountain above Jackson underwent a temporary repair last week and Mountain Manager Adam Shankland says it survived a rigorous test.  Shankland says it held for between four and 4 ½ hours at full pressure.  He adds, “We actually made a little snow up on Cougar Run – so as soon as we reach a temperature of 28° F trending downward for at least a few hours, we’ll be firing back up and starting to make snow again.” Shankland says the mountain has been very fortunate this year that the natural snow has held up making for good skiing in the absence of the snowmaking equipment and has been improving with the recent storms.

  • Wish list season is upon us again - October 17, 2014
Late October is a bad time of year for me. If I were independently wealthy, it wouldn’t be so bad. But I’m not. I’m a journalist, so it’s a little painful. It’s rough because this is when the Christmas catalogs start hitting the mailbox, and they’re chock-full of gear I wish I had. From the […]
