Grants Sought To Fix Intruded Campgrounds

Palisades Bridge

The Palisades Ranger District is seeking grant money from the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation to restructure the campground at the foot of Palisades Dam to accommodate a road that now runs directly through it.  The grant request seeks money to reroute the roads through the Calamity Campground that need to be changed due to the relocation of Forest Service Road 76 across a new bridge, replacing access across Palisades Dam.  Likewise, Spokesman Lynn Ballard says funds are being sought to build new campsites in the Riverside Campground that will be lost due to the road reroute accommodating the new bridge below Palisades Dam.  Dispostion of the grants is anticipated in May with the awarding of the grants to take place in June.

The Wyoming Cowboys open up their football season at home against Montana tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon in Laramie.  It’s the first meeting between the two schools since 1997, and the Grizzlies enter the game as the fifth-ranked team in the FCS. On defense, the Cowboys top priority is to stop the run.  With a talented quarterback […]
  • Warmer Temperatures With Isolated Thunderstorms Expected Today - August 29, 2014
A weak ridge of high pressure will build over the region today, which will allow temperatures to become warmer and closer to average statewide.  However, some lingering low-level moisture and daytime heating could trigger a few hit or miss thunderstorms for the afternoon and early evening hours.  Gusty winds and lots of lightning will be […]
