Grand Targhee Among Worlds 10 Most Scenic

Grand Targhee

USA Today has listed what it considers the ten most scenic ski resorts in the world.  Among them is Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming.  The USA Today article touts, “…this lesser-known resort boasts the best views of the Grand Tetons.  From the top of Targhees Lone Peak, you can see four states and two national parks.”   The article goes on in praise of the resort’s snowcat skiing saying, “In one word, awesome.”  Other resorts listed in the top ten list are Schweitzer Resort in Idaho, Grands Montets in France, Mt Tremblant in Quebec, Heavenly Mountain in California, and Zermatt, Switzerland.  The article maintains, “Oftentimes the experience of simply being high up on a snow-covered mountain, breathing in panoramic views of all that surrounds you, means so much more than whether or not you braved a double-black diamond run.”  The article was published Monday.

However, because this is a program about the outdoors, I’ll just talk about the things in the outdoors I’m thankful for. There’s plenty of it. Especially here in Wyoming. We’ve got […]
  • Pelts are nearing prime conditions - November 26, 2014
The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. It’s the amount of daylight, and not the temperature, that causes wild animals to grow longer, thicker coats. If you’re a predator hunter or a trapper, that’s your cue. The pelts are coming into their prime right now, but that doesn’t mean they’re at […]
  • Very Windy in Many Areas, Developing Light to Moderate Snow - November 25, 2014
The I-25 and I-80 corridors and adjacent roads throughout central, eastern and southern Wyoming will see very strong and gusty winds today.  Sustained winds of 25 to 40 mph likely for many areas with gusts to 60 mph or higher in the wind prone locations. Light to moderate snow shower activity will also be increasing […]
