GTNP Land Agreement Extended To 2016

GTNP Winter

The Wyoming Board of Land Commissioners yesterday agreed to an amendment to the agreement for the conveyance of lands in Grand Teton National Park to the Interior Department in the light of delays in consummating thee 2010 deal.  That amendment would allow the conveyance to go through in exchange for title to federal lands mutually agreed upon by the state and federal government.  The parcels in question are located on Antelope Flats near the Teton Science School and along the Gros Ventre Road near Kelly. The amendment sets January fifth, 2016 as the date the deal needs to be consummated with the option of extending it to the end of that year if significant progress is being made.  The amendment now must go to Governor Matt Mead for his signature.
