February 10, 2014 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming, Town of Jackson No Comments
Jackson

Another publication has named Jackson, Wyoming one of America’s best ski towns.  Travel and Leisure Magazine named those communities that offer amenities beyond good skiing on the slopes.  The articles author explained, “We’ve set our sights on the towns that prove ski vacations aren’t just about the slopes or mega-resorts or chic chalets. They are about embracing a lifestyle—and they are just plain fun.”  Jackson is numbered among such towns as Telluride, Colorado; Taos, New Mexico; Park City, Utah; and Ketchum, Idaho.  The article touts Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, but goes on in praise of downtown Jackson, and such establishments as the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, the Historic Wort Hotel and its Silver Dollar Bar, The Kitchen and The Rusty Parrot.  Quoting the article: “[Jackson] is marvelous in its own right—and still the kind of western town where dressed-up generally means jeans.”

  • Shoot some skeet if you’re feeling like a crack shot - July 18, 2014
I shot at a lot of clay pigeons when I was a kid, but I never did it at an organized trap or skeet club. And I’ve shot at a lot of birds, both upland and waterfowl. I may not have been born with a shotgun in my hand, but I picked one up not […]
  • Change gears on the outdoor activities - July 17, 2014
Next week’s the last full week in July, and if you live anywhere near Cheyenne, that means Cheyenne Frontier Days. It actually starts tomorrow. I kind of got into the habit of absorbing everything Frontier Days has to offer when I was working at the newspaper, and I can’t seem to get it out of […]
