GTNP Visitation Up In January

The report from a missing counter is in and January visitation statistics from Grand Teton National Park indicate a significant increase over the same month last year.  According to the report published by the National Park Service Visitor Use Statistics Office, nearly 44,800 people entered the park for recreation last month, a 12.3% growth from the previous year.  Combined with those passing through the park for non-recreational purposes (like those passing through on US Highway 26/89/191 on the east side of the park), park visitation for the month increased by 15%. Park Spokesperson Jackie Skaggs says she suspects Western Wyoming’s good snow conditions have attracted more people to the park for recreation.
