Chips Are Down For Cookie Bill

broken cookie

The bill to establish a state cookie, sponsored by Laramie County Representatives Lee Filer and Kenneth Esquibel, and Senator John Hastert on behalf of students at Goins Elementary School in Cheyennne, crumbled as soon as it hit the floor.  The bill came up in a batch of other bills proposed for introduction Tuesday but failed to get a rise out of the lawmakers.  While some may have thought it a half-baked idea, the bill was actually meant to help students at Goins Elementary School in Cheyenne learn how a bill becomes law. The children had already conducted the research to learn that the chocolate chip cookie was the biggest seller in the state and included that in the proposed package as the recommended cookie.
