Wyoming’s US Senators Seek Simplification

February 12, 2014 Jackson Hole, State of Wyoming No Comments
Sen John Barrasso

Wyoming US Senators John Barrasso and Mike Enzi are taking a page directly out of the Wyoming Legislature’s handbook and offering it as a bill intended to limit backroom deal-making and pork-barrel measures.  That bill, explains Barrasso, would require any legislation considered by the Senate to be limited to a single issue – just as the Wyoming Legislature does.  Says Barrasso: “Bills in the Wyoming Legislature are on a single topic – not lots of stuff thrown together, and amendments have to be on that topic”  He remarks that if Washington would do things in this manner, things would proceed a lot better and be more understandable. Barrasso made his comments during a recent visit to Jackson.  Enzi adds, “The more ‘comprehensive’ a bill is, the more it ends up becoming incomprehensible.”  Senate Resolution 351 would create a point of order against a bill or resolution not confined to a single issue which could only be overruled by a vote of a 67% or greater majority.

  • Towing with a half-ton - July 31, 2014
I’ve been hauling horses with either a three-quarter-ton or a one-ton truck for about the past 10 years, and I’ve gotten kind of spoiled by the towing power of those old Ford diesels. Even with a heavy load cruising along behind me, I’d sometimes forget I was pulling a trailer. But when the F-350 started […]
