The fourth annual WinterFest gets under way in Jackson Hole tomorrow beginning with the arrival of cutter racers in town and their pre-race Calcutta, the race on Saturday and Sunday and two Slalom and Giant Slalom events at Snow King Resort.  Cutter Race Chairman Rod Everett says 30 teams are anticipated for this weekend’s race. Everett saysthe racers come in from around Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming, and their teams are very fast – reaching speeds of 45 to 50 miles per hour in the sprints. He adds that the race is part of the character of Jackson Hole having been staged for the past 43 years. Money raised from the race and the following weekend’s ski jouring event supports the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.  Other WinterFest events include a gallery walk, wine-tasting, ice-climbing, and hockey; and the festival wraps up with the 118th annual 49er Ball February 23rd.
