State Legislature Focuses On 2-Year Budget

The Wyoming Legislature yesterday began reviewing the State Budget. Each house of the Legislature is to work independently on the budget and then after both houses approve the budget, a conference committee will be appointed to reconcile the differences between the two houses.  Once the budget is submitted to the Governor, he has 3 days to review it and use his line item veto for those provisions with which he disagrees.  The legislature then decides which line item vetoes they may try and override with a 2/3 vote. State Representative Keith Gingery of Jackson says among the provisions he is championing is $400,000.00 to be placed into Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund. Gingery says this fund helps to fund many of the arts programs in Teton County.
