Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation encountered a bit of a problem last week, but this week efforts are back on schedule for trail grooming around the valley. According to Tim Selke of the Parks and Rec trail grooming program, the groomer slid off Cache Creek Trail in Bridger-Teton National Forest, about four miles up the canyon on February 14th. Crews worked through the week to extricate the machine with little luck. A team of individuals armed with snow shovels were sent into the canyon Friday to begin the laborious task of digging out the groomer by hand after a large machine sent to tow the groomer out slid down the bank and into Cache Creek on Thursday – leaving two machines mired in the canyon. That effort was successful and the stuck machines were freed up on Saturday.
