Wyoming’s US Senator Mike Enzi together with Senator John Barrasso earlier this month proposed a bill limiting legislation at the national level to single issues, just as Wyoming restricts their legislation. In that way, he says the Congress can limit irrelevant add-ons. During his visit last week to Jackson, Enzi said his proposed bill is generating favorable response from constituents. “I’ve just gotten fantastic response across the nation for it,” says Enzi. “They understand that it would probably break the logjam that we’ve got in Washington where we try to do everything ‘comprehensive’ – which, of course makes it incomprehensible – and allows people to shovel a lot of extra stuff in there; which should never happen and would never happen in Wyoming.” Enzi and Barrasso’s bill would create a point of order against a bill or resolution that is not confined to a single issue which could only be overruled by a supermajority of 67 votes.
