(JACKSON) Lower Valley Energy has announced a moderation in the price of propane at the wholesale level will bring a decrease in the price to customers by 9.22¢ per gallon. Prices had increased for propane in January and again the beginning of this month for a total of 88¢ more per gallon. Spokesman Brian Tanabe says the rate reduction that will take effect March 27th is welcome news. He says the price increase had caught the cooperative entirely off guard. He says on a national level, it was very dramatic – so he says, “It was heartening to see a very quick decrease in the national market.” Tanabe says there were indications prices might see a decrease even as the cooperative was raising the pass-through cost, but the public service commission requires a thirty days’ notice of price changes and March 27th is as quickly as the co-op could bring prices back down again.
