(MAMMOTH)  Yellowstone National Park has released a prospectus soliciting proposals from businesses that might be interested in providing guided interpretive over-snow vehicle tours and a skier camp there.  Park Spokesman Al Nash says the concession is located in the Canyon area of the park.  Nash explains a business has been operating there for several years, providing a skiers camp and guided, interpretive, over-snow vehicle tours from that location.  He says the contract is expiring, and because of the change in the way the park is now handling transportation events into the park, a new contract will not be awarded with a right of preference for the current operator. Nash explains the new prospectus implements the park’s new Final Rule for Winter Use by requiring the concessioner to provide tours as transportation events. Nash says those interested need to respond by the end of this month.

You can set up your decoys to minimize the risk of shooting at birds when they’re too far […]
  • Don’t lose your vision in the woods - October 21, 2014
I don’t have good eyes. Had I been born a hundred years ago, there would have been no help for me. Glasses can’t help me, so I’d have blind. I have to wear a special kind of contact lens, which wasn’t available in the days of Davey Crockett and Daniel Boone. But through the miracle […]
  • Hunters must be conservationists first - October 20, 2014
As hunters, it’s our responsibility to take care of the critters we hunt, as well as those we don’t. We have to obey the game laws. Police ourselves to be sure others respect the wildlife. And even offer suggestions to the Game and Fish Commission when we think there are better ways to ensure that […]
